Q3. Do I have a "grace period" on my policy?
A3. It depends on the company that insures you. Here is listing of companies along with the "grace periods" offered by each. Keep in mind, the payment must actually reach the insuring company (not our agency) before the "grace period" is up. In most cases this means that if you are due to cancel, for example, on May 5 your payment must reach the company by May 4 as policies cancel at 12:01 am on the day of cancellation.
Liberty American: No grace period, but you may bring a payment to our agency before the cancellation date and we can call the company and let them know we have it in hand and ask if they will honor the payment. We cannot guarantee that they will, but we will certainly do our best to convince them.
Mobile USA Mobile Home Insurance: No grace period, but you may bring a payment to our agency before the cancellation date and we can call the company and let them know we have it in hand and ask if they will honor the payment. We cannot guarantee that they will, but we will certainly do our best to convince them.
Mobile USA Flood Insurance: 30 days
American Strategic Flood Insurance: 30 days
American Strategic Insurance (ASI): No grace period, but you may bring a payment to our agency or call us before the cancellation date and we can make a payment online either by check or credit card.
Citizens Property Insurance: Wind-no grace period, but will reinstate your policy without the need for rewriting if payment is made within 90 days of cancellation.
Homeowner policies: No grace period. Payment must reach Citizens by the end of the business day before your cancellation date.
To avoid cancellation due to late payments, we encourage you to send your payment in well ahead of the deadline.
