Q12. What are "flow-through vents"?

Also known as flood vents, these small openings, when installed in an enclosure under a stilt home, can save hundreds of dollars each year on flood insurance. The openings must be located on at least two walls and within one foot of the ground. You need the same number of square inches in vent space as you have in square feet of enclosure. This simple modification will save you money year after year on your flood insurance.

More Information:

After you have installed your flood vents, you will need to have a surveyor fill out a new elevation certificate. This survey will cost approx. $150 to $200 dollars. However, the amount you save on flood premiums is often substantial and those savings go on year after year.  If you have any questions as to the installation of these vents, please contact us.
