Q15. What is a declaration page (dec page)?
The declaration page individualizes your insurance policy for you. It gives you the name and address of your insuring company and agent. It lists your coverages, coverage amounts, insured property address, mailing address, mortgage information, who will be invoiced for renewals, endorsements, and your premium amount. It is very important that you carefully look over your declaration page and immediately contact your agent if there are any mistakes.
More Information:
If a change is made to your policy, any change whatsoever, you will be sent a replacement declaration page. This can cause some confusion. Often we get phone calls from customers who think that they are getting a bill, when in fact they have received a replacement declaration page due to a change, such as an address change or updating the mortgage information. These declaration pages will often have the word "amended" on them somewhere. Remember, if you receive anything from your insurance company that you have a question on, please don't hesitate to call us.
